About us.

Our vision is to create connected communities where everyone can live well.

Hedyn was created through the merger of Newport City Homes and Melin Homes on 1 April 2025.

We have big and bold ambitions as set out in our strategy, to make sure everything we do has a positive impact on the lives of others. We want our residents to thrive, guaranteeing a safer and brighter future for us, and those who come after us.

As a registered social landlord, we support residents living in over 15,000 homes across south-east Wales, in:

  • Blaenau Gwent
  • Monmouthshire
  • Newport
  • Powys
  • Torfaen

Candleston, which operates as a separate entity from Hedyn, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the wider Hedyn Group. Candleston develops high‑quality homes for sale which helps us:

  • increase housing supply across the region
  • deliver more affordable homes
  • continue to invest in existing homes
  • strengthen the services we provide
